Message-ID: <1989Dec5.010219.10907@Solbourne.COM> I just received my second copy of gfa basic 3.07 ( the one with the compiler and interrupter in one ) that just will not load I mean no directory or nothing. I get a " disk in drive A does not respond ....." message. Now my first thought is that my drive is bad, but I can access all my other disks with no prob. I tried to look at the disks with Mich-trons disk utilities and it says basically that there are bad (and or no) fat sectors, whats a fat sector?. I would like to think that Antics more on the ball then to send two bad disks in a row, but I don't like to think that my systems on the blink. Anyone else had any problems with Antic/GFA disks ? Any ideas as to whats wrong ? -- E-mail == stevem@Solbourne.COM "FRODO LIVES" "COLORADO!!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Support the formation of a World Space Agency. ------------------------------ Date: 5 Dec 89 01:54:43 GMT From: zaphod.mps.ohio-state.edu!uakari.primate.wisc.edu!caesar.cs.montana.edu!blake!r amsiri@tut.cis.ohio-state.edu (Enartloc Nhoj) Subject: ATARI sales .. going up? Message-ID: <4764@blake.acs.washington.edu> My local dealers can't keep ST's in stock. I called J & R earlier today. I couldn't order an ST or a Mega TODAY...that is, one couldn't go out the door TODAY.. The rep says they can't keep atari's stocked.. apparently the ad campaign is working. He said he has a 5000 piece shipment of ST's and Mega's and slm804's arriving tomorrow... and if the phone keeps ringing as it has been.. he expects to sell them all! What will it take to get the STacy and TT shown on the cover of BYTE? There's hardly a concern demostrated by BYTE people for a STacy and GCR whenever MAClones are discussed. Is the PR problem at the Atari-end ? .. or is it BYTE magazine? -kevin ramsiri@blake.acs.washington.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Dec 89 20:46:48 EST From: David Megginson Subject: Calamus and Linotronic Message-ID: <89Dec4.205941est.57670@ugw.utcs.utoronto.ca> In response to Steve Yelvington: ISD has ordered a large batch of Linotronic interface boxes from Germany. The first batch came in a long time ago, but none of them worked. The new ones should be in soon. The boxes bypass postscript and send a raster image directly to the printer. They work with all Linotronic X00 models. Apparently, they are very fast. We have never stayed to watch them do the printing, but it takes only a couple of minutes for each page, from what I understand. A lot of printers have ordered the boxes, so it should not be too long before anyone can typeset their Calamus output. The Compugraphic fonts look _great_ in 2540 (or whatever) dpi. I'm sorry I cannot give more technical details, but it's my spouse who's the layout artist - I'm just a philologist. If you call ISD at (416) 479-1880, they can give you a lot more specific information. Since I cannot reach him, and since more people can be interested in an answer, here it goes: So far I was successful writing to Johann Ruegg using the following address: uunet!isis!onecom!wldrdg!hans or uunet!dunike!onecom!wldrdg!hans A new address for Tony Andrews is: ...onecom!raid5!tony Please note that isis seems te be really touchy and likes to bounce back your mail. In particular on a form 'wldrdg.ether.com', which will likely appear in your mail **incoming** from Sozobon, will react with "550 wldrdg.ether.com!onecom!hans... Host unknown". This implies that you cannot user a 'reply' function of your mailer. If you still have problems reaching addresses above then, as long a volume is reasonable, you may send your mail to me and I will do my best to pass it through. I seem to have a pretty good record in that department. :-) Michal Jaegermann Myrias Research Corporation Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA mj@myrias.COM ...?uunet,alberta?!myrias!mj P.S. If you are asking for a response on your posting, and you are on a uucp site, please include in your message not only domain address but also some sane "bang path" which works. Trying to guess it is often no good and one gets back the following: ----- Transcript of session follows ----- While talking to unido.informatik.uni-dortmund.de: >>> RCPT To: <<< 554 ... host or domain unknown 554 watzman!michaelv...
